... a story to tell
Come See What's Going On in Story City
Escape to STORY!, September 16-19, 2010
Our community offers the best of small town living in a beautiful, active, and progressive environment. Take a ride on our Antique Carousel, stroll over the swinging bridge for a picnic in the park, relax with friends during a round of golf, or spend the afternoon shopping and eating in our local establishments. We're the perfect community in Iowa to visit or call home.
Located off Interstate 35 at exit 124, Story City is only 45 minutes north of Des Moines and 10 minutes from Ames and Iowa State University. We pride ourselves on our commitment to historic preservation and community amenities. A busy Parks and Recreation group offers activities for children, youth, and adults in a fantastic new facility complete with walking track, exercise classes, and equipment. Our beautiful parks are complete with tennis courts, community pool, disc golf course, and basketball courts.
Story City has a strong economy with a variety of industrial facilities, two malls, local restaurants, service and retail shops, and a bustling downtown. The local Economic Development Corporation is always ready to meet with new prospects seeking to open or expand their entrepreneurial spirit into our I-35 business park. Pride in the downtown is evident, and in 2010, we celebrate ten years as a certified Iowa Main Street Community. Popular festivals and events include Scandinavian Days, STORY! Celebrating the Art of Storytelling, and many holiday activities. Come see what's going on in Story City.
